Lard
Pasture-Raised, Pure, Hand-Rendered USA Lard feeds your hair and skin extra-nourishing balanced fatty acids and the world’s highest Vitamin D3 content, second only to cod liver oil. Lard has been used in haircare since medieval times for skin health, hair growth, and hair health management. Our lard is carefully hand-rendered to keep its precious rare nutrients in-tact.
Lard is the 2nd fat in the world that is highest in Vitamin D3, second only to cod liver oil! Vitamin D3 is the most bioavailable form of Vitamin D. Vitamin D delivers a myriad of health benefits, including supporting healthy skin and hair. As it turns out, Vitamin D3 in its activated form does all the wonders on your skin regeneration and other metabolic functions in the skin. Vitamin D3 is also involved in various signaling pathways in the hair follicle and has a direct (and critical) role in the hair growth (aka anagen) phase. Topical application of vitamin D3 has been shown to render protection against damage caused to the skin by UV light. Vitamin D3 reduces cell death, promotes cell survival, and reduces redness and inflammation.
Pasture-Raised, properly fed lard is low on the comedogenic scale: it will not clog pores nor cause inflammation, in fact it may help with those issues. Since it is slightly higher in unsaturated fatty acids, it provides a more bubbly lather and a squeakier clean.
Our Lard is:
-
Slowly and carefully hand-rendered in our facility from the farm-fresh raw source
-
NEVER bleached or ultra-processed for a “white look”
-
Pasture-Raised from LOCAL and USA small family farms

NO SCENT OF ANY KIND WAS ADDED AS AN INGREDIENT TO THIS PRODUCT!
However, this product was made in our one and only facility where we manufacture all of our products (scented and unscented). Therefore, atmospheric scent may or may not transfer over at a detectable level to any unscented product.
We take every precaution possible to reduce surface-level atmospheric scent transfers by:
- Using extra manufacturing tools ONLY for unscented products.
- Our “unscented” manufacturing tools are stored in completely separate containers.
- Cleaning and sanitizing ALL manufacturing tools and surfaces between each batch.
- NEVER letting our unscented products touch our scented products (either directly or indirectly)!
Please keep in mind that our shipping supplies are stored in our same small business facility where we make scented products, so they may have an atmospheric scent transfer.
If any atmospheric scent is detected by sensitive buyers, we recommend to allow the atmospheric scent transfer to dissipate:
- Remove the unscented products from all shipping materials and any materials around the product.
- Let the unscented product sit out naked (for a few days to a few weeks) in a dry atmosphere devoid of any scent with good air flow.
- Once you start using the unscented product, even the most sensitive users may not notice the surface-level atmospheric scent transfer disappears.
Best By Date: 12/19/2027
Store in a room-temperature, dry place out of direct sunlight.
We recommend using within 1 year of first use for best results, as scents and contents fade and break down faster over time once disturbed.
You may use our lard soaps for cleansing your body, your face, your hair, or for shaving! We recommend our all-in-one shampoo soaps as the best option for using as shampoo or shaving soaps, but with some extra effort in lathering, you can use our pure lard soaps as an alternative!

I used this soap just as a hand soap in my bathroom, not in my shower. I found it very difficult to lather and had to use a lot of extra effort to wash my hands, but my hands did feel very clean and nourished after use. It is still a huge improvement over the liquid hand soap I am replacing. I think this soap would be great for in the shower or for a face wash where its getting extra wet or lather doesnt matter so much.

Hi there. Thank you for your review. We do state in the How to Use section that it does require some extra effort in lathering. Unfortunately without the plant oils, it does make pure fat bars harder to lather. You could use one of our Basic Shampoo Bars as a hand soap bar if you are wanting a soap that lathers easily. We are glad that you could feel the difference in nourishment between our soap and the liquid soap you were using. Thanks for being part of the herd and for your honest feedback!

My first time trying the Lard and Goat Milk soap (usually I get Lard and Buttermilk) and I’m impressed. Clean, moisturizing, ideal for sensitive skin, and just all around an amazing go-to to keep in your shower or as a hand soap. I’ll always keep this one or the Lard and Buttermilk in stock. It’s an absolute hygiene staple.
