Our clay and buttermilk masks are called “Clay-Opatra” because the famously beautiful Egyptian Queen Cleopatra bathed in buttermilk daily to maintain her gorgeous skin. These buttermilk and clay masks will be your new favorite facecare routine!
Ingredients:
Powdered Cultured Buttermilk
-
Buttermilk gives your skin a natural extra boost of beautifying proteins and AHA’s (alpha-hydroxy acids) to renew and nourish your skin from the outside-in.
-
AHA’s increase cellular turnover and encourage skin’s rejuvenation, making your skin act and appear more youthful.
-
The main AHA in buttermilk is a protein called Lactic Acid.
-
It would take an entire article to explain all of the nutritious benefits of buttermilk… so we did! Read our article about the vast nutrient contents of buttermilk here.
Rose Kaolin Clay
-
Great for drier and aging skin types due to it’s natural content of iron, which can help improve circulation and skin strength!
“Kaolin absorbs sebum and prevents pore clogging. It’s used to draw out impurities and toxins from the pores. [It then] clears the skin of excess oil, dirt, and pollution without causing any redness or irritation,” says Alessandra Caceres, a licensed aesthetician.
-
Because of its antibacterial properties, kaolin clay may be useful in treating acne, too.
The minerals in kaolin clay can remove oils, secretions, and contaminants from the skin. They serve as cleansing and refreshing agents by absorbing moisture and impurities and by reducing blemishes.
A 2012 study (Source) offered preliminary evidence that a healing clay facial mask can be an effective treatment for mild acne.
-
However, one 2012 study (Source) tested the effectiveness of topical clay application on collagen fibers in rat skin. The study showed that clay may increase collagen fibers, which may account for its benefits.
Certified Organic Rose Powder
-
Roses are the universal symbol for love and beauty, with good reason. Roses have been used for centuries to beautify and slow aging skin.
-
The astringent nature of the rose petals helps reduce excess oil, helps tighten and shrink large pores, and helps in cleansing and toning skin.
-
Rose petals trap moisture into the skin which helps soothe dry, sensitive skin and make skin feel soft, fresh, and glowing – like a dewy spring flower!
-
The anti-inflammatory properties of rose helps soothe acne, pimples, and itchiness. An NCBI study examined extracts of rose petals and confirmed its anti-skin inflammatory benefits.
-
Consequently, roses also help reduce redness and irritation on the skin, especially for sun-damaged skin.
Silk Protein Powder
-
Silk is one of the softest, yet strongest materials on Earth. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “soft as silk” and experienced silk’s superior luxury fabric, you will understand why this is so.
-
Silk is made from the silk moth cocoon’s after they hatch and leave their fibrous home behind, which has became highly prized since ancient times for its many uses in beauty and textiles.
-
But what can it do for the skin? Since early history, silk powder has been used to protect, enhance, and beautify all skin types to shield it from harmful light and environmental pollutants, while also building the strength and tone of the skin’s surface, improving its texture and flexibility.
-
Great for nourishing, calming, and enhancing the skin’s natural beauty with its brightening, toning, and strengthening proteins, you will feel the difference in just one use!
Damascus Rose Absolute
-
Highly prized for its rich floral scent, Rose Absolute is also known for its calming properties, helping to soothe emotions and bring calm in the midst of fresh grief. It can also promote relaxation, perfect for a spa day at home or with friends!
-
It is extremely useful in skin rejuvenation, as Rose oil counteracts the visible signs of aging, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and helping smooth skin.
Don’t settle for less than the absolute best to feed your hair and skin from the outside-in®

First, I should start my saying I LOVE masks and am always trying out different ones. I use a mask a couple times a week during my bath ritual. This is by far one of my favorite masks! The smell is amazing and I love the texture when I use the brush to apply it. I feel like it works and penetrates into the skin to pull out impurities. Highly highly recommend!

I love this clay mask! It smells so good! Leaves my skin feeling purified, the clay really pulls everything out. Using this, and then tallow after to moisturize leaves your skin flawless. The color of it is so pretty too.

I really enjoyed using this mask, easy to mix with water and slather on. Scared hubby a bit, but worth it for the lovely feel of my skin afterwards.
