Yes, our tallows are in smaller containers compared to the big bottles of store-bought lotions: a little goes a very long way! The longer you consistently use tallow, the less you will need, as tallow actually helps to balance and regulate your skin – rather than dry it out as most lotions do. This isn’t an advantage for the seller, but it is fantastic for the consumer! Tallow regulates the skin to rely LESS on moisturizers, instead of training it to depend on MORE moisturizers over time. Therefore, tallow IMPROVES your skin over time, instead of subtly and slowly making it become dependent upon outside moisture, like chemical lotions do.

Suet, as opposed to muscle fat, contains a higher level of saturated fatty acids and a triglyceride known as glyceryl tristearate, otherwise called “stearin”. Suet therefore softens and smooths the skin’s surface better than regular tallow fat, while also helping to maintain and protect the skin’s barrier.

Tallow resembles our natural sebum (skin oil) and absorbs into the skin easily, which helps to balance the skin’s sebum production after a cleanse. We often hear the questions “Why not make it without Vitamin E?” and if not, “Will you teach me how to make this myself?” If the answers above do not satisfy, or if you want the only ingredient to be farm-fresh, high-quality tallow – then we invite you to experiment with rendering and whipping your own suet from a good local farmer near you and using in 3-6 months (without the addition of Vitamin E) in careful storage. Also, the proper rendering and filtration methods take several hours to carefully accomplish correctly without damaging the suet. It took us years to perfect the process and find the right suet suppliers, plus ALL suet batches are slightly different due to seasons, diet, genetics, locations, etc. – it is a lot to learn and not easy to teach! We do not share our method for making local tallow butter from our suet suppliers – you will need to experiment with your own farm-fresh suet if you wish to attempt to create a similar quality. △ Beading & Other Inconsistencies
Farm-fresh suet tallow in it’s raw (unprocessed and natural) state can be compared to farm-fresh raw honey. If you have ever had raw honey crystallize after sitting in your cabinet, the beekeeper probably told you it is doing exactly what that product does naturally, and it can be gently re-heated to go back to a more fluid, consistent texture state. Raw, unprocessed honey still has molecular memory – the compounds tend to draw back into their natural state over time, remembering their original composition. This is the same story with 100% grass-fed whipped farm-fresh suet tallow – except that it beads instead of crystalizes. We have not been able to determine exactly the reasons for beading, whether due to abrupt temperature fluctuations, atmospheric pressures, humidity levels, or additional ingredients: beading is a total mystery we are still trying to pin the precise cause of (and we will probably never be able to). Some tallow jars will bead, while others from the same batch stored in the same location do not! The beekeeper will be able to relate: as some honey jars crystallize, while other jars from the same batch do not. We learned this from having our own honeybees for a few years – it is a natural happening with high-quality products, although inconvenient.
You may also notice that raw natural honey (like farm-fresh tallow) is different in texture, taste, and color at different seasons – even from the same farmer and location. This is because of the seasonal availability of food for the bees and other environmental factors. Again, a very similar thing happens with grass-fed pasture-raised tallow: the texture, scent, and color vary at different seasons – even from the same farmers and locations. These are undetermined factors we have no control over due to the seasonal changes of environments and adapting natural genetics.
Despite these inconsistencies, the end performance and value of the product is still the same! With beading, it takes a few more seconds to massage the product on the skin to melt the beadings, that’s the only inconvenience. The other factors of “imperfections” are always a possibility with all-natural ingredients: affecting their scent, texture, color, and consistency. Since the ingredient is still fitting to the description of “100% grass-fed suet tallow” or “raw natural honey” as per our example – the product still works perfectly naturally and is still functioning exactly as stated and as nature intended. We could add more processed ingredients or chemical emulsifiers to remedy this, but we see this extra step as only compromising the benefits of our farm-fresh, natural, animal-based products to maybe only gain a slightly more consistent texture – it’s not even a guarantee! Just like our natural animal fat soaps will never lather like palm-based detergents, our hand-rendered tallow-based products can’t compare to the artificial consistency of highly processed and industrialized ingredients used in other body products.
Therefore, we feel that it is best to consider these inconsistencies as proof of the integrity of our ingredients, and take pleasure in knowing we are rubbing in a more wholesome skin food a little longer than if the texture, color, or scent was exactly “as-expected” like synthetic or highly processed creams are. In short, we do the best we can with what nature gifts us – we hope that you are able to enjoy a truly superior and natural product for your body, despite any organic inconsistencies!

Most consumers would say this product has no scent detectable at all or that any scent detected is only due to the nature of the ingredients.
NO SCENT OF ANY KIND WAS ADDED AS AN INGREDIENT TO THIS PRODUCT.
This product was made in our one and only facility where we manufacture all of our products (scented and unscented). Atmospheric scent may or may not transfer to a detectable level over to any unscented product.
We use exclusively unscented molds for making unscented products, these are even stored in separate containers to help reduce atmospheric scent transfer.
We thoroughly clean all manufacturing tools and surfaces between each use and keep our unscented products completely separate from our scented products (not touching).
Please keep in mind that our mailer boxes, tissue papers, cards, and peanuts have also been sitting in our same small business facility where we make scented products.
If any atmospheric scent is detected by sensitive buyers, we recommend to let the unscented product sit out (for a few days to a few weeks) in a dry atmosphere devoid of any scent with good air flow to allow any atmospheric smells to dissipate. Usually after the first use, any detectable atmospheric smell transfers will dissipate.

Furthermore, Perma-Earth LLC extensively tests their products in-house on their own limited personnel with their acknowledged consent. As stated prior, Perma-Earth takes all possible measures to pre-test every product on our own staff members and family members before offering a product for sale. For instance, if one has a rare reaction to a preservative, oil, or fragrance – this is a consumer’s sole risk of using the product being pre-informed of the product’s ingredients or description of use prior to purchase. One must also take into consideration the “inferred” use of an ingredient in another product that they have previously deemed safe for use… For instance, if one has no reaction to a “grapefruit scented with essential oils” product and yet has a reaction to an “grapefruit essential oil scented” product, that does not mean that only true grapefruit essential oil was used in the prior product, nor does this guarantee that one will not have a reaction to another grapefruit scented product, as everyone uses different ratios and sources. I have been using the unscented tallow butter for at least a few years. I love it. I love that it is clean and made with just a few simple ingredients. I usually use this in the morning and then another Perma Earth tallow in the evening.

I have used other unscented whipped tallows before and thought I would mix it up and order from Perma Earth. The tallow seems fine except unlike other unscented whipped tallows I have used before, it has a VERY STRONG SMELL. Like cooking grease. Don’t know why that is the case, but it makes it unusable for me especially on my face. Quite disappointing.
I also ordered the unscented tallow spf which has no smell, great! Why then does the straight whipped tallow smell like cold french fries?

Update: I ran out of my other whipped tallow and very begrudgingly tried the perma earth. The smell is unpleasant, but the product is remarkable!?!
It has made such a dramatic difference in my skin (which is recovering from laser resurfacing) in just 5 days, that I am wondering about the quality of the other whipped tallows I have used in the past….
I will use it in spite of the smell, which is really saying something!

This tallow is a wonderful option for those of you who really don’t want any scent, or it is really great to add your own EO to if you’re into that sort of thing! I didn’t like the unscented tallow personally, I couldn’t get over the steak pan smell… but I did end up melting it down and putting some EO I had on hand and it worked just fine. I probably won’t get it again because I like other options more, but it’s still an amazing product. Tallow is THE BEST moisturizer!!!

I’ve gone through so many chemical and mainstream brand moisturizers, and nothing has ever worked nearly as well as this! It doesn’t break me out, or clog my pores, and leaves my skin healthy and glowing! The smell doesn’t bother me in the slightest either, it’s really quite mild.

I always knew I loved this stuff for the obvious reasons. It moisturizes, is natural and healthy, and it doesn’t take much to do the job. It recently got cold in Florida and my sinuses went haywire. Needless to say my nose became raw from all of the tissue use and it was making me more miserable. Then I had an aha moment and started applying this several times a day and within 24 hours, my nose feels drastically better and I know I’m going to avoid the dry, chapped nose it usually turns into. I love this stuff!!!

I’ve been having trouble with “natural” face products for about 3-6 months now. I would be able to use a product and then I could feel it starting to burn me after a while. However, this product feels so raw and natural and it keeps me moisturized WITHOUT being greasy. The bottom half of my face gets way greasier than my top and I couldn’t tell the difference. This is a miracle product for me and I’m going to get the face wash next. My only critique is I don’t care for the smell, it literally makes me hungry, but I’m worried about the scents burning my face. I’ll eventually try a sample eventually to see. You can’t smell it while it’s on, just when you’re applying it. Genuinely the best moisturizer I’ve EVER used

I absolutely love this cream!! I was using cerave but have dove into the more natural side of things of the last year. I can say this is by far the best cream I’ve ever used for my face. I put it on before I do make up and after I get out of the shower. I truly feel like my face has more “glow”

Everyone needs this product, if not 2 or 3! Definitely a staple product that can serve multiple purposes. Not to mention this lasted me a few months! The name of this says it all, definitely feels like butter on the skin! I mainly used this on my hands at night. I woke up with the softest and smoothest hands!

My skin has never felt better. I introduced Perma Earth’s tallow near the beginning of 2022 and have never looked back. My first order was the smaller, 2oz glass jar. After just one use I noticed how deeply moisturized my skin felt, and also noticed my acne fading quickly after a few days. I didn’t notice any bad smell at all. I bought the 6oz tin so that I had more longevity out of the tallow since I like to apply it to my entire body. The 6oz has lasted so long and leaves my skin feeling so nourished and soft. My complexion/tone is more even, my skin texture has improved a ton, and I have even noticed reverse aging! I don’t feel the need to wear makeup anymore and am so confident in my skin now. I like to apply this in the evening, after a shower, or before I lay out in the sun. I will always have this in my quiver!

This is definitely our number one favorite thing to buy with PermaEarth. It was the first thing we tried when treating my baby’s eczema, and we have not struggled with that problem since making tallow a part of our lives. I really appreciate this unscented option. The texture is perfect and the glass jar is a great size for being on the go.

So easy to apply because of the nice tin it’s in and also your best option because you can use it multiple ways! What I like to do sometimes is blend a little (in a separate container/my hands) with diluted essential oils like peppermint and apply it on my tired legs or with diluted tea tree oil and apply it to my face. I just make sure to use up all the tallow I just blended with diluted EO right away. But it’s really just great as is, you can apply it on your face, lips, and body! You’ll love it!

I’ve bought this product twice, so far. The first time, bought the smallest size and found that it’s super gentle on my skin. Ordered again and got the biggest one. Exceeded my expectations!! I have eczema and it’s sat really well on my skin and leaves it moisturized for hours. It’s definitely part of my skin routine now and I use it everyday! A little bit goes a long way. I bought this to use on my baby’s eczema and it works great for those dry areas. I also don’t think it smells beefy. I bought the half ounce tin which has lasted a surprisingly long time. I’ll be getting a big jar for him 🙂

This tallow is so nourishing. I use it every day as my lotion for legs, hands & feet. It absorbs very nicely & has helped my skin very much. I even use it as a lip balm several times throughout my days. The smell will throw you off at first, it’s a light beef scent. You will get used to it after a few uses & it does fade away after application. I will never be without this unscented tallow, love it!

I truly LOVE this stuff.
The smell is not the best at first, but it fades entirely within one minute and after a month of use it doesn’t bother me at all anymore. It SO nourishing for my dehydrated skin but doesn’t clog any pores or cause any breakouts to my sensitive acne prone skin. Will repurchase over and over! APPROVED

I bought this honestly for the price and size, knowing I already loved tallow balms. I wasn’t exactly sure I would love the natural fat smell, and I don’t, but adding my own EO’s is such a breeze. I can switch it up daily and I love that! I used to use the pond’s face cream, but this is so much better. No questionable chemicals, and my face has never been more soft!

This product has absolutely changed my life. My skin has never loved and accepted a product the way it has with this whipped tallow! As soon as I get out of the shower, or right after washing my face, I pat dry, and rub half-a-dime size scoop of the whipped tallow evenly across my face/neck! I have rosacea on my cheeks and chin and have seen a remarkable difference in the inflammation since switching to this product. The unscented tallow has a very natural smell to it; if the texture creamy had a smell, it would be this lotion! I am a customer for life because of this product alone – everything else is just an amazing bonus!!! 😊

My first time trying tallow. I’ve been using it on tough, dry skin like my elbows, and it really seems that they are softening –even though I don’t apply it every day. I wondered about the scent (due to another review), but really it was only the first time I opened the jar that it smelled slightly natural/animal; when I’m applying this product, I don’t notice any scent. Seems to be working great!

This whipped tallow is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used! I was looking for a really nourishing moisturizer to help mitigate the effects of hard water, which irritates and dries my skin. This whipped tallow is extremely helpful for that, unlike anything else I have used, although I do like to add Earthley’s Soothing Skin Balm for extra help with the skin irritation. This whipped tallow does not leave me feeling greasy and I can definitely feel the effects when I go without using it!
Because I use so much of the whipped tallow, I ran out of it within a month.

I use the scented whipped tallows as a face moisturizer daily, but I keep the unscented on hand for anything else! We have used this to heal sunburns (it works incredibly well if applied the same day as the burn!). It has helped my guys with bum rashes on sweaty days and cracked feet and my own cuticles if dry. Whipped unscented tallow has been one of the most versatile products I have ever purchased.

I am absolutely in love with this product. It has a wonderful creamy texture that leaves the skin feeling soft and moisturizer. A little goes such a long way too. I use it mostly as a face cream and I’ll put it on my dry elbows. The only downside I have found and it’s kind of a funny one. Every time I open the jar my dogs come running, they love the smell lol

My absolute favorite skin cream! I use it to remove makeup and as moisturizer for face, body and hands. I use it all year. I love the unscented as I add my own essential oils when needed. I drop a few drops of oil in my palm add the tallow, rub my hands together and apply. It’s a perfect cream without essential oils too! Sometimes I use this cream on my hair too.

I wish I could bathe in this whipped tallow. It has such a smooth, warming, non-greasy texture on the skin. Not only does the product perform as advertised, it is also a very relaxing part of my routine. A little goes a long way… one 2 oz. jar has lasted me over two months now, and I still have a little less than 1/2 left.

I just received this 3/16/21 and let me first start off by saying that I was blown away by how fast shipping was!! Secondly, I bought this for my 8 month old daughter. She has super sensitive skin and we have been deal with a terrible drool rash and have tried everything I could think of to help clear up her face and hands from teething. Just with using this on her these past 2 days I can already tell SIGNIFICANT change in it helping her skin in it healing it. I am so relieved we have finally found something that is working for us. I’ve even been using this for my chapped lips and it has helped them as well!

The smell doesn’t bother me, but let’s talk about how moisturized I am. This is what true moisturization should feel like. It’s very lush, and I don’t feel greasy at all. Put this in chapped feet, and socks and your heels with be SMOOTH in just a few hours. Love it!

I do love the way it feels on my skin. Light and not greasy but totally moisturizing. It has taken me some getting use to the smell, the jury is still out on that. I do notice my legs above my knees not having the creppy skin any longer. That that has never happened!

This product has been life changing for me. This product is amazing. I used to use aquaphor on my dry skin but decided to try something a lot more natural. Using this whipped tallow nourished my dry skin and feels softer after each use. I highly recommend especially for those who have sensitive skin.

Talk about butter for your face! I ordered the 6oz and my plan is to use it as a moisturizer prior to putting on foundation and at night. I will gladly report back after that’s been a regular routine. But in the mean time, this is a thick face cream that goes on smooth and a little goes a long way. I can instantly feel the softness in my skin. The unscented still gives a bit of a natural earthy tallow/lard smell but it’s subtle. Bonus: the 6oz came in an awesome round tin that looks cute for leaving out on the counter as decor and can easily be repurposed once it’s empty!

The first time using this I was skeptical because it doesn’t smell like your normal moisturizer. It has a fatty smell but is very light! No big deal when this product absorbs into your skin real well and still leaves it moisturized. I have noticed the pores on my nose have dramatically decreased which has NEVER happened! My skin has overall been looking more youthful and its only been a week.
