Yes, our tallows are in smaller containers compared to the big bottles of store-bought lotions: a little goes a very long way! The longer you consistently use tallow, the less you will need, as tallow actually helps to balance and regulate your skin – rather than dry it out as most lotions do. Suet, as opposed to muscle fat, contains a higher level of saturated fatty acids and a triglyceride known as glyceryl tristearate, otherwise called “stearin”. Suet therefore softens and smooths the skin’s surface better than regular tallow fat, while also helping to maintain and protect the skin’s barrier.

△ Beading & Other Inconsistencies
Farm-fresh suet tallow in it’s raw (unprocessed and natural) state can be compared to farm-fresh raw honey. If you have ever had raw honey crystallize after sitting in your cabinet, the beekeeper probably told you it is doing exactly what that product does naturally, and it can be gently re-heated to go back to a more fluid, consistent texture state. Raw, unprocessed honey still has molecular memory – the compounds tend to draw back into their natural state over time, remembering their original composition. This is the same story with 100% grass-fed whipped farm-fresh suet tallow – except that it beads instead of crystalizes. We have not been able to determine exactly the reasons for beading, whether due to abrupt temperature fluctuations, atmospheric pressures, humidity levels, or additional ingredients: beading is a total mystery we are still trying to pin the precise cause of (and we will probably never be able to). Some tallow jars will bead, while others from the same batch stored in the same location do not! The beekeeper will be able to relate: as some honey jars crystallize, while other jars from the same batch do not. We learned this from having our own honeybees for a few years – it is a natural happening with high-quality products, although inconvenient.
You may also notice that raw natural honey (like farm-fresh tallow) is different in texture, taste, and color at different seasons – even from the same farmer and location. This is because of the seasonal availability of food for the bees and other environmental factors. Again, a very similar thing happens with grass-fed pasture-raised tallow: the texture, scent, and color vary at different seasons – even from the same farmers and locations. These are undetermined factors we have no control over due to the seasonal changes of environments and adapting natural genetics.
Despite these inconsistencies, the end performance and value of the product is still the same! With beading, it takes a few more seconds to massage the product on the skin to melt the beadings, that’s the only inconvenience. The other factors of “imperfections” are always a possibility with all-natural ingredients: affecting their scent, texture, color, and consistency. Since the ingredient is still fitting to the description of “100% grass-fed suet tallow” or “raw natural honey” as per our example – the product still works perfectly naturally and is still functioning exactly as stated and as nature intended. We could add more processed ingredients or chemical emulsifiers to remedy this, but we see this extra step as only compromising the benefits of our farm-fresh, natural, animal-based products to maybe only gain a slightly more consistent texture – it’s not even a guarantee! Just like our natural animal fat soaps will never lather like palm-based detergents, our hand-rendered tallow-based products can’t compare to the artificial consistency of highly processed and industrialized ingredients used in other body products.
Therefore, we feel that it is best to consider these inconsistencies as proof of the integrity of our ingredients, and take pleasure in knowing we are rubbing in a more wholesome skin food a little longer than if the texture, color, or scent was exactly “as-expected” like synthetic or highly processed creams are. In short, we do the best we can with what nature gifts us – we hope that you are able to enjoy a truly superior and natural product for your body, despite any organic inconsistencies!

I mix-up my own tinted makeup with this product along with the lotion made from the conditioner. It goes on smooth and easy and does not leave any streaks. I also use it plain when I just need face protection. I am please that it does not clog my pores. This will be a regular purchase!

I will first start off by saying that I avoid sunscreen for myself and my family if at all possible. However, there are certain situations where you cannot escape the sun without missing out on some of the fun. I am so grateful to have found a safe sun cream to protect me and my littles when the time calls for it. I ordered the unscented and coconut scented. Between the two, the light fragrance of the coconut is definitely our favorite. We love it!

I love this tallow butter sunscreen! I got the scented one in the sample size and it worked really well. It smells so nice and is excellent protection. I got the higher SPF, and I only put it on my spots that I most likely burn and it did a great job of protecting my skin but I was still able to tan a bit through it! I definitely recommend this product! A little goes a long way! APPROVED

I was afraid this would be too greasy and heavy but it’s not! I was also surprised at how small the jar was and afraid I’d use it up too fast. I quickly found out that won’t happen because you only need to use a small amount to get coverage on your face. I used too much the first time because I could still feel it on my face and neck hours later. The next time I took a small amount and dotted my face and neck. The product warms and spreads as you rub it in. A bit of white shimmer but goes away quickly. Very silky and creamy texture. Nice scent!

Okay, we loved the original higher SPF sunscreen but we love the 10-20 SPF even more! It is a thinner consistency so it’s easier to spread onto your skin and it still protects you from the sun. We moved to Florida recently and I was worried about burning into the sun but ever time we are going to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time we use Perma Earth 10-20 SPF and have never burned once! We are all getting beautiful tans and getting all of the benefits from the sun. We are LOVING it!

I purchased the SPF 35-50 option just under a year ago – still have 2/3rds of the jar left! Seriously a little goes a long way with this product but re application is KEY if you are out in the sun for long periods of time. I used to burn like crazy in the sun but not with this tallow sunscreen – I get the perfect sun kissed color without any skin peeling afterwards. Literally cannot say enough good things about this sunscreen – it’s completely changed my life & my ability to be in direct sunlight without a worry for long periods of time. I bought the coconut scented one (10-20 spf) and it smells SO GOOD. I live in Miami FL and go to the beach often but hate toxic sunscreens, so this one is a lifesaver. The scent isn’t overpowering and it’s really beachy and tropical. I burn easily on my chest so I apply a bit there and it works great. Looking forward to using this all year round!!

I love my sun cream! I wear it daily (on my face and neck only) to prevent uv rays from penetrating. It does go on white but I massage it in pretty good and it does fade quickly. I just make sure to put it on first thing in the morning and give myself time before leaving the house. I love that it’s made with tallow and therefore it’s also my daily moisturizer (I use a different tallow butter at night).
So happy to have a clean and safe sunscreen to use – I won’t use anything else now – I’m done searching. I have only used the original suncream, so I’m looking forward to trying the new scented one and also the primer.

Finally got to put this product into full use while camping and this saved my skin! This was better than any other sun screen I’ve used in my life and I will never get another filled with all those chemicals again. This sun cream is my go to forever.

Very happy with this. While it’s shocking white at first… with a little rubbing and melting action against the skin, it mostly blends in. For even more blending, I mix it in my hand with another Perma-Earth tallow cream product before applying. I love knowing I’m using a non-nano mineral sunscreen with trusted ingredients. They’re hard to find!!

I don’t personally use sunscreen on myself, but I use this for my one year old son as both a sunscreen and a diaper rash cream. It works absolutely wonderfully as both. Full day beach trips in only a diaper are no match for this product. Yes, it’s slightly hard to rub in enough to avoid the white out effect on a wiggly toddler, but I don’t mind being able to make sure I’ve applied the product everywhere I want. It’s thick and a little goes a long way. The fat base means it repels moisture well and I find I don’t have to re-apply very often.
It’s also a GREAT diaper rash cream. We haven’t had anything severe on our hands, but redness and rashy patches go away much faster with this product than any of the other crunchy/organic products I have. Again, a very little goes a long way.

I use this every day on my face, neck, and shoulders. It works and I like the way it makes my skin look 🙂 brightens up my face and is good to put under my makeup. I add a little extra under my eyes to brighten my dark circles. APPROVED

I can’t speak to this product’s effectiveness since I wasn’t outside for longer than 30 minutes but I felt good knowing I was protected and my skin was moisturized. I will say though if you ever want to be a clown at a costume party, all you need to do is wear this and just not rub it in. I applied way too much the very first time and my son and I looked like ghosts no matter how much I rubbed it in. He was not pleased. A little goes a long way too for diaper cream so I may continue to use it mostly for that.

Several years ago I learned that commercial sunscreen is toxic. I have also learned NOT to be afraid of the sun. Found this clean sunscreen with wonderful ingredients. We use it if we are going to be in the sun all day, or when traveling to where the sun is hotter. Love this stuff!

I have used this sun cream everyday since I received it a couple weeks ago and I love it so much. It goes on so nicely without an oily feeling. It rubs in very well and has a sweet subtle smell. I work outside and it has been so supportive. I’m no longer burning and my sun freckles have even popped out in a positive way. All in all, this is exactly what I was looking for and love how clean it is and how good it is for my skin!

I have extremely sensitive skin and have been searching to find a simple effective sunscreen for myself and for my newborn. It leaves a white hue which is expected from a mineral sunscreen but goes away pretty well if rubbed in properly. It does not leave you feeling like you have goop on your skin either. I had read from someone reviewing that it also makes a great diaper rash cream and can say that they were correct. The rash always disappears after one or two applications and I do not feel bad putting it on babies delicate skin. Because of this cream I will be trying the unscented products on baby with my next order!

This product is a great alternative to toxic sunscreen. It is very thick, so I use it in combination with other perma-earth moisturizers to help it smooth out and absorb better in my skin. It is working well to prevent further sun damage to my face. Also works great to clear up any type of rash or breakouts!

I cannot say enough about this product! A DREAM TEAM of ingredients that has so many applications. I’ve used this as protection on long days in the sun, a salve when I got unexpected sun, and a very effective remedy for a grease splatter burn that blistered. Perma Earth products renew my skin with what is lost naturally and have helped to heal minor rashes and burns. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend

This sunscreen is great. Of course, with it being a zinc sunscreen you are going to get a bit of a white cast. I find if you continue to rub it in, warming it up and working it into the skin then it’s not too bad. But definitely still a bit white. Probably wouldn’t be a good option as a face sunscreen for darker skinned ladies. The consistency of this product is really nice though. Silky smooth!

I live in Florida with the extreme heat and humidity. I love having an alternative to chemical sunscreen for protection. My husband came home from work with a rash on his forehead from wiping sweat all day. One application helped sooth and make his rash go away.

This sunblocked worked very well and was very moisturizing. I give 4 stars only because it took a while for the whiteness of it to absorb into my skin on my face and I looked like a sick victorian child for about 30 minutes after application lol. I would still purchase this again.

I’m so thankful for the sun cream! It truly helped our baby’s diaper rash and I didn’t have to worry about there being harsh ingredients in the cream. Our baby rarely gets rashes, but I’m thankful I have the sun cream to turn to when she does!

So good! Thick, but still rubs into skin. After I wash my face I apply and take my time rubbing it in. No sticky or greasy residue, need very little and works great! I use it on my hands and chest too!

A little goes a VERY long way!! I’m super pale and have sun sensitivity, and have been looking for a nice natural sunscreen for myself and my family that’s also coconut free. This is amazing!! I’ve gone on 30 minute walks in 100+ degree weather midday, and didn’t get a sunburn! Tip: Start with a very small amount, and if you notice any white streaking, keep rubbing, it WILL disappear. I like the SPF content in this as we can still get some vitamin D without burning. This is now the only sunscreen I use. Thank you Perma Earth!

This sun cream is amazing! Living in Lower Alabama, we need sun protection daily for most of the year. This is the only product I’ll use on my family! So easy to rub in, have never had a burn in the year we have been using. The customer service is also amazing! Great product, great company!
