Our 7 Simple Ingredients
Certified Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
-
ACV is apple juice that has been fermented several times. Over time, natural bacteria ferment the juice, converting the alcohol into acetic acid. Once this process is finished, you have ACV in a raw, unfiltered form. The raw form has cloudy sediment made up of settled beneficial bacteria and yeast.
-
The fermentation process creates compounds in the vinegar called malic acid and acetic acid, which is well known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
-
ACV is generally recommended for those with oily and acne-prone skin. It can be applied as a toner, spot treatment or facial cleanser.
-
Benefits for the skin may include: balancing skin pH, exfoliation, reducing hyperpigmentation from blemishes, and stimulating epidermal circulation.
Certified Organic Witch Hazel Extract
-
Witch hazel is an astringent for skin due to its tannin content. Applied to skin, tannins compress proteins in skin, creating an invisible “film” that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, de-grease the skin, and minimize the look of enlarged pores.
-
Touted as one of the best ways to remove dirt, grime, and excess traces of makeup at the end of the day to keep your skin looking clear and beautiful. It can be used after the cleanser as a toner to target skin problems like acne, enlarged pores, redness, under-eye puffiness and more.
-
Witch hazel contains tannins and polyphenols. Tannins help in reducing swelling and fighting bacteria, and polyphenols protect the skin against damage caused by UV radiation from sunlight.
-
Witch hazel has components that help soothe minor skin conditions such as burns, acne, inflammation, irritated skin, insect bites and more.
Rose Water
-
Rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, rose water can help soothe irritated skin types.
-
With its antibacterial properties, it can balance out your skin’s complexion, fight infections, and combat against red and blotchy areas.
-
Rose water for skin care is also highly effective in treating oily, acne-prone skin.
-
Rose water has many anti-aging properties, roses have been used for centuries in beauty routines to help keep a youthful and radiant appearance.
Vitamin C
-
Ascorbic Acid is the water-soluble form of Vitamin C we use in this formula, this form has an excellent safety profile for most skin types.
-
According to a 2017 research review, most healthy skin and organs contain high concentrations of vitamin C. Review authors noted that topical vitamin C penetrates the skin best in the form of ascorbic acid.
-
Vitamin C is touted as one of the best ingredients on the market for pro-aging support — and the key to maintaining a smooth, even, and glowing complexion.
-
Not only is Vitamin C shown to brighten skin, fade hyperpigmentation, and reduce redness, but it also promotes collagen production and may help protect against sun damage.
-
Vitamin C serums can help smooth out fine lines by plumping and hydrating the under-eye area. Although vitamin C is more effective at reducing overall redness, some people say it can help alleviate discoloration associated with under-eye circles. According to a small 2019 study on three treatments for dark circles, vitamin C mesotherapy resulted in a significant improvement in the pigmentation of under-eye circles.
Rose Absolute Oil
-
Highly prized for its rich floral scent, Rose Absolute is also known for its calming properties, helping to soothe emotions and bring a grounding calm. It can promote relaxation before sleep when diffused or applied topically diluted in a carrier oil.
-
It is extremely useful in skin rejuvenation, as Rose oil counteracts the visible signs of aging, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and helping smooth skin.
Willow Bark Extract
-
Derived from the bark of the willow tree, Willow Bark Extract has been used for centuries to soothe irritated skin. Containing salicin—from which salicylic acid is derived—this versatile ingredient is both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, clearing pores and alleviating acne and irritation.
-
In addition to salicin, Willow Bark Extract is also high in tannins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and various minerals, all of which help soothe the skin and aid in cell regeneration, allowing for a more youthful, refreshed complexion.
-
Salicin — Named after the willow tree genus itself, salix, salicin has excellent anti-inflammatory properties.
-
In skin care, salicin alleviates acne and irritation and is suitable for most skin types. Salicin’s anti-inflammatory effects have also been shown to diminish wrinkles, reduce the appearance of pores, and even out skin tone while promoting increased firmness.
-
A natural exfoliant, salicin sloughs off dead skin cells and clears pores to reveal a more radiant, clear complexion. Although extremely effective, Salicin is gentle and non-irritating, making it safe for nearly all skin types. Popular skin care ingredient salicylic acid is the metabolized derivative of salicin.
Alcohol is a commonly despised ingredient in skincare, but we have found irreplaceable uses in many toners. In fact, most toners actually contain hidden forms of denatured alcohol. Newsflash: ALL acidic toners (whether they contain some form of hidden alcohol or not) will temporarily breakdown the skin barrier and dry out the skin, allowing for deeper penetration of nutrients and moisturizers after use. This is seen as unacceptable for certain skin condition, but this is very easily solved. For instance, if you suffer from oily acne AND have drying eczema, you may use our toner then simply follow with a moisturizer right after. These are all of the common reasons as to why alcohol “must be avoided”, but we have found that it is extremely useful for most toner formulas.
-
The only natural, non-greasy, skin-safe solvent to liquify the acne-fighting ingredient: salicylic acid.
-
A naturally safe preservative and anti-microbial to fight acne-causing bacteria.
-
Its astringency helps clear skin in order to rebalance sebum production when using our cleansers prior and moisturizers after.
